Joseph Docker
Joseph Docker left Sydney with his wife and children as well as some servants, some flocks of sheep and a boat. They all travelled through and Yass and crossed the Murray River. Joseph Docker saw land for sale in 1839 in an area near the Yarra village known as Richmond. During the 1850's Docker and his nephew, William Workman developed Richmond building a number of houses for all of the people who arrived in Victoria and wanted a place to live. Joseph Docker is a well known icon to Richmond because he was the man who helped establish Richmond in the mid 1800's, It is also key to understand that without Joseph Docker there would probally be no Richmond. There is also a street known as Dockers St which is based in Richmond.
